Atlas
The Atlas platform is utilized by a majority of AT&T technicians. It is designed to handle everything from in-home installation and repair jobs to technical infrastructure maintenance and troubleshooting.
My Role
Lead Designer
Problem
Technicians need access to the inventory system for a clear view of truck inventory. It should notify them of any discrepancies or shortages before jobs. This allows them to take necessary measures for smooth execution.
Scope
Full redesign of the user interface and functionality of the appointment management and inventory systems.
Originally Designs
This design was from a previous designer. The stakeholder initially wanted me to explain it, but I was concerned that this solution wouldn't solve the tech problem.
More Extensive Scope To Support The User
I recommended a design that displays daily item discrepancies alongside the Tech Truck inventory, resulting in a more intuitive experience.
Product Solution
The product team wanted to limit the visual UI elements for this functionality to the home screen only. However, this approach lacked context between the missing items and their corresponding jobs.
Design Solution
I suggested displaying Truck inventory data on a separate screen to avoid cluttering the Home screen with data and provide better context for item discrepancies.
Gorilla Testing & Compromising
I faced some resistance when I suggested showing the entire inventory of Trucks to the Tech team. They questioned whether it would genuinely add value to their work.
To address their concerns, I presented the designs to actual Techs and received positive feedback on the flow. While we couldn't fully develop the initial proposed design in the current sprint, we were able to create a more moderate version.
